Using a curved blade knife scrape off the visible charred area without damaging the surface of the wood. Smoothen the surrounding area by sanding and drop a drop of water onto the area. If it still looks charred it needs to be sanded some more. If not then dry the area wait for a while and apply mineral spirits with help of a small cloth. Let it dry.
Using a small fine paint brush apply layers of shellac, varnish, lacquer or relevant original finish till it fills up. Keep this to dry out overnight.

Rub the surface with steel wool, wax and then polish the area till it blends in with the rest of the table.

4. To remove the grease residue, oils and grime, rub the damp cloth over the pew and use the brush to rub all carvings and crevices.

5. Dry and buff the pew with clean microfiber and let it dry to add shine.

3. According to the instructions, use water or mineral spirit to remove the chemical stripper and allow it to dry for 24 hours.

4. Using a 120-grit sandpaper, sand away the leftover residue from the chemical stripper and use a brass toothbrush for the grooves and areas, hard to reach.

5. Applying minimal pressure, sand the table legs using a 220-grit sand paper, to smoothen them.

To make your own Suzetta bench, cut two 47” long and two smaller 9 ¼ “pieces from the 2×4 wood plank into rounded rectangular shapes and join the ends of the pieces with framing spikes with a hammer.

Connect the 9 ¼ inch rectangular shape to the base of the bench with two inch nails. Cut a 53” panel out of the 1×12 piece to make the bench seat. Join the seat to the legs allowing considerable front, back and side overhangs.

Cut and join 11×17 inch rectangular panels to the bench ends through the braces cut out of the ¾ “plywood.
Cut out a rail from the 2×4 piece of wood and join it to the structure.

Sand and fill any depressions and apply a coat of paint or stain.
