Learn to take Care of Your Futon Covers
Futon mattresses are the best mattresses for a home. These mattresses became very famous among the people because of the wide range of the colors and sizes it is available in. There are many different covers available for the futon mattresses. These covers not only protect the mattress but it also gives a nice atmosphere to your room. The vibrant colors of the cover give a different look to your bedroom.
These covers are very easy to be taken care of. Whenever you cover gets a stain it is advisable to take off the cover immediately and soak the cover in the water. After soaking the cover for some time you need to wash the cover with a mild detergent. Using the mild detergent will save the colors of the cover and keep the cover for a longer period. Hence by following these simple steps you can easily keep the cover for a longer time.
Removing Cigarette Burns from the Furniture
A small circular burn mark left by an avid smoker can ruin your furniture making it look ugly and spoilt. While you cannot stop the smoker you can certainly learn to clean the burn marks effectively.
Using a curved blade knife scrape off the visible charred area without damaging the surface of the wood. Smoothen the surrounding area by sanding and drop a drop of water onto the area. If it still looks charred it needs to be sanded some more. If not then dry the area wait for a while and apply mineral spirits with help of a small cloth. Let it dry.
Using a small fine paint brush apply layers of shellac, varnish, lacquer or relevant original finish till it fills up. Keep this to dry out overnight.
Rub the surface with steel wool, wax and then polish the area till it blends in with the rest of the table.
Getting the Rust of the chains
Introduction
Home objects, cars, bikes have chains as a important part. Generally these parts are damaged due to moisture in the atmosphere. If you don’t clean them regularly, chains get coated with rust. .If it gets spread, holes are formed which can cause damage to the chain and break it So to ensure long use of the chains, keep them rust free.
Instructions
1. A steel wool pad can be used to wipe the surface of the chain. You can use a brush so as to get into tight parts.
2. Use commercial rust removing solution .Apply it on the rust on the chains using steel wool pads. It takes 10-15 minutes for the rust to get dissolve in the acidic solution.
3. Use paper towel to clean the chain.
4. Using a paintbrush, coat the chains with primer.
This primer protects the chain from rusting. A protective layer is formed to guard the chain from moisture.
5. Allow the primer to dry fully before you start using the chains again.
