Plywood painted with accent color to match your trim can be used to make a window box seat to give some more space for your stuff in your small room. You may opt to put loose seat cushions on the seat for extra comfort.

1. Place two 18-by-36-inch plywood panels parallel to each other that are to be used as the sides of the box.

2. Insert one 18-by-16 1/2 inch panel between the two sides to form a rectangular box. These are the ends.

3. At an even distance of 3 inches, drive screws through the ends.

4. Aligning the edges, Place an 18-by-36-inch plywood panel over the box and screw them at an equal distance of 3 inches. This is the bottom.

5. To make the lid, turn the box upright and Align the remaining 18-by-36-inch panel over the assembly so that it is flush with the sides and ends.

6. Hold the lid in open position and center the hinge between the seat/lid and back side and drive the screws in the hinge into the lid.

7. Place the 24-by-36-inch plywood panel on the back side of the box seat with the 3/4-by-36-inch edge flat against the work surface. This is the box seat back.

8. Now, fill the screw holes with wood putty and allow it to dry.

9. Paint the box and allow it to dry.
