You can now decorate your home in the Japanese style. It is an easy décor to do by adding a few colours, Japanese accessories and hiding all the clutter. Pagodas are an intrinsic part of Japanese style. They draw a lot from Zen Buddhist tradition. Here the emphasis is on clean lines, soothing earth tones, low furniture and a minimum of everything.

You can also check out the Japanese farmhouse style which is brighter and uses big windows, lanterns and vintage fabrics. There is also the Japanese modern look. This is good if you have a small house where there isn’t much space. You will find most Japanese décor reflecting the philosophy of ‘sabi’. The term is a Japanese term which means elegant simplicity.

Ornamentation in Japanese home-décor is kept to a bare minimum. You can blend Japanese décor with a pan- Asian theme. Consider carved coffee tables, Indian lanterns or Tibetan wall art. Use light weighted furniture which can be moved easily if required.
